Behaviour Management

At J&C Academy, we recognise that teachers and instructors must have good behaviour management skills in the modern day classroom. Our experienced and motivated team are  trained experts on behaviour management; which means that your pupils will be positively engaged and motivated to do their very best in each and every lesson. As a result, we harness individual skills whilst helping children to fulfill their potential.

Stage 1: Effective Planning
Our lessons are fast paced, lively and engaging.
Effective and advanced planning which is
Safe Appropriate Fun and Educational helps keep children focused on developing their skills as opposed to skewing off task.
Through our skills and expertise, children become passionate about learning a new ball skill, playing an instrument or learning new and expressive words in another language.
Our lesson plans have been developed over a ten year period of delivering consistent quality education in schools just like yours. To find out more about our effective planning - contact us.

Stage 2: Setting the ground-rules
The most important thing before beginning any lesson is: "Is the environment Safe". Once this is established, the pupils and the teacher should agree on how they should keep it safe, by setting the ground-rules. We keep the rules simple and clear in order to get pupils focused on the positive learning that is about to take place.

Step 3: Responding to queries effectively
The way that our specialist teachers respond when a pupil is experiencing difficulty or chooses to ignore the rules and/or boundaries which have been set out before the lesson is key to the development of every child. We have set out some common intervening factors below which encourages pupils to keep on the right track.

1. Giving pupils an insight into what they will be learning at the start of each lesson, gives children an incisive plan of action and key targets which helps them to focus on achieving the target set.

2. Revisiting learning outcomes throughout the lesson gives opportunities for children to reflect on their learning and helps to maintain the focus of the group.

3. Keeping a good pace to the lesson. With effective planning, teachers are well aware of their key teaching points and can deliver theses teaching points in a bullet point fashion. We often use a system called T.O.T.A.T to keep their brains stimulated - Teach One Thing At A Time.

4. FUN! At J&C Academy we strike the perfect balance between lessons which are Fun and Educational! To deliver outstanding lessons in PE, Music and MFL, the two strands must work cohesively. When children are enjoying a subject, they often study harder at it and as a result they learn more. Lessons which are fun and engaging also encourage independent learning.

."All coaches demonstrate positive leadership. An enjoyable learning environment is created through the excellent relationships between the children and the coaches"
Kristina Davison, Deputy Head teacher, Dormer's Wells Infant's School

We encourage reflective learning by asking children to analyse their own behaviour. Children then establish what the could have done differently in order to attain a more productive and happy result. This caring and attentive expression helps diminishes aggressive behaviour patterns and helps to develop positive and caring relationships throughout the school.

Where boundaries are broken, children must be made aware of the consequences and these consequences must be followed through. The key difference with planned intervention is that the teacher / coach stays in control of the lesson, not the challenging pupil.
